José L. de la Hoz was born in Madrid (Spain) in 1962. After six years of
Medical School, in 1986 he obtained his Medicine (MD) degree at the
Complutense University in Madrid where he got his Stomatology (DMD)
degree in 1989 as well. From 1990 to 1992 he joined the International Dental
Studies program of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San
Francisco graduating with High Honours as DDS. During the second year of
the program he served as President of the IDS Class’92, he was invited to
join the TKO and OKU Dental Honour Societies and was awarded the
“Leadership Award” of UOP. Back in Madrid he followed the Postgraduate
Master Program in TMD in the University Hospital Gregorio Marañon (1992-
94).
From 1995 to 2002 he was the doctor in charge of the TMD Section of the
Stomatology Dpt. in Clinica de la Concepción in Madrid.
Presently he is associate professor and coordinator in the Master Program in
OFP and TMD at the University San Pablo CEU and works in his private
practice devoted to TMD/OFP and Restorative Dentistry. He is also working
in his Doctoral Thesis to obtain the Ph.D. degree. He is interested in research
regarding the application of Botulinum Toxin for the therapeutic management
of TMD & OFP
Presently he is President of the Spanish Academy of Craniomandibular
Disorders and Orofacial Pain, Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial
Pain, Active Member and Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain,
Active Member and Member of the Educational Committee of the European Academy of Craniomandibular Disorders and
International Member of the American Dental Association. He is also Active
Member of the Spanish Prosthodontics Association.
