Biography
Dr. Werfel practices in Manhattan, NY alongside Dr. Donald Tanenbaum and Dr. Steven Syrop. Dr. Werfel is an active member of the AAOP (American Academy of Orofacial Pain) and holds a position in the Access to Care Committee. Dr. Werfel completed the program developed by the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine entitled Orofacial Pain Beyond TMD. It provides general dentists with a more profound knowledge of the science of Orofacial Pain and jaw-related disorders. Combined with the experience gained in the practice, Dr. Werfel continues to develop deep competence in diagnosing and treating patients who suffer from these conditions. She is also developing a wellness program in the practice to assist patients suffering from persistent pain and poor-quality sleep. Dr. Werfel places considerable attention to individualized care, patient education, and lifestyle management for positive patient outcomes. When she is not practicing, she volunteers as a part-time attending at the Weill Cornell Medicine GPR program to educate dental residents on orofacial pain and TMJ dysfunction.
