Biography
Dr. Chizobam Idahosa is triple board-certified in Orofacial Pain, Oral Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine. She has a private oral medicine/orofacial pain practice in Lansdale, PA. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
She received her B.D.S. from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, and her D.D.S. from New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Idahosa completed her General Practice Residency training at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, followed by private practice as a general dentist in Pittsburgh, PA. She then pursued and completed her post-doctoral training in Oral Medicine and her Master of Science in Oral Biology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Her clinical interests include but are not limited to the management of:
· Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs)
· Burning mouth syndrome
· Trigeminal neuropathies and neuralgia
· Oral mucosal disorders: lichen planus, pemphigus, pemphigoid, aphthous ulcers
· Viral, fungal, and bacterial infections of the oral cavity
· Oral pre-malignant lesions
· Oral complications of cancer treatment
· Salivary gland disorders (Dry Mouth), and oral manifestations of systemic diseases
Dr. Idahosa is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She received the Robert Schattner Award for Outstanding Oral Medicine Resident from the University of Pennsylvania.
She has given many lectures and published multiple articles on topics related to oral medicine. In 2014, she received a Case Report Award from the American Academy of Oral Medicine.
